Hi, I'm Badrangui

Mongolian, tech nerd, and the person behind MongolianBasics.

Why I Started This

I've watched friends, colleagues, and random foreigners struggle with the same problems in UB: getting ripped off by taxis, confused about SIM cards, unsure which ATMs won't charge crazy fees, standing awkwardly in restaurants not knowing how to order.

The information exists — but mostly in Mongolian. And in a 21st century city like UB, things change fast: new apps replace old ones, prices shift, scams evolve. By the time something gets translated or written up in English, it's often already outdated.

So I built what I wished existed: clear, practical guides that answer the obvious questions without the fluff. No "discover the mystical land of Genghis Khan" — just "here's how much a taxi should cost" and "here's the app you need."

I live in UB, I use these services daily, and when things change (new apps, new scams, new prices), I update the guides. Think of it as having a local friend you can ask the "dumb" questions without feeling awkward.

What Makes This Different

Actually Practical

No romantic stories about nomads. Just "here's how to order food delivery."

Updated Regularly

Mongolia changes fast. I keep guides current, not stuck in 2018.

No Sponsored BS

I recommend things because they work, not because someone paid me.
